The second rule of stress management is to actively participate in the stressful situation. Doing nothing is worse than doing nothing at all. Changing your life is the greatest way to cope with the stress you're experiencing. We can all relate to procrastination and how it may deprive us of valuable life moments. If we procrastinate and resist change, eventually it will force itself onto us, leaving us with no other option. Life is full of change, and if we resist it, we'll fall behind. So, we might as well embrace it.


Everyone should consider what it is they are trying to avoid, and then, if at all feasible, tackle this head-on while maintaining some degree of control. If we can solve the problem ourselves, we won't have to worry or stress about it, and we'll know just how big of an impact it has and how much of a change is necessary. Reducing the severity or frequency of the stress is ultimately up to you; all you have to do is alter your exposure to it. If someone says something nasty or brings you down, you can choose to ignore them or avoid talking about it. You should do your best to stay away from these problems altogether if you can.

When we've figured out the manageable tensions, we'll run into the uncontrollable ones. No matter the source of the stress, improper handling of the ensuing tension, irritation, and associated emotions will eventually lead to hypertension. We need to figure out how to emotionally accept change and adapt, even when it's out of our hands. Once you’ve accepted this, you can start living your life to the fullest, unencumbered by the masks you put on to fit in and avoid hurting other people.

When we finally pull the plug on acting like everything is fine, the next question is usually how to continue living without becoming completely overwhelmed. Once again, we need to find joy in life's little pleasures. All of us need to train our eyes to recognize and value the local flora. If people are kind enough to smile at us, it should brighten our day and give us the strength to face life's challenges. Take pride in the little things we do, like finishing a job or starting a garden in our kitchen. You deserve to like and appreciate yourself as a reward.

Life is full with stress for everyone. We could all need a little pick-me-up every now and again because life isn't always fair. Although it's tempting to shut down when we're stressed, it's not a good idea. It is imperative that we inspire and drive ourselves forward. No matter how bad things go at work or in our personal lives, we must keep going. We must go about our daily lives despite the stress and not allow it to impact our productivity at work and elsewhere. When we sense the stress levels rising, it's important to take care of ourselves and accept that we will conquer the internal feelings of loss.

At some point, we'll have to address each of the stresses we've compartmentalized so that they don't get out of hand. Trust me, this is critical. We need to make sure that the things that are stressing us out are dealt with, engaged with, and finally crossed off our lists so that we can create room for the new things that life throws at us.
